Hi.
Please tell me how can I connect to the Hexing 110 meter using GXDLMSDirector? Connection via RS-485. I have no documentation for this meter, it has been lost. What settings will I need to set?
Have you tried with default settings? Select "Hexing Electrical Co. Ltd" as a manufacturer and give it a try.
I don't know the baud rate so you need to try with different baud rates.
I tried the default settings, it failed to connect. I tried to change the baud rate too unsuccessfully. Maybe I am not setting the correct client address or physical server? What parameters should be there, the last two digits of the meter's serial number?
We have read Hexing Hxp 100 with optical probe. Baud rate was 9600. Version what we read didn't implement association view and all the objects were added manually. What is your exact model?
Can you try to connect with an optical probe? If you are using RS-485, try to change the server address from 1 to 0x11. Server address might be the problem with RS-485. Can you find the server adddress from the documents?
Exact model HXE110. Unfortunately, I don't have an optical probe. Lost documents. There is only a link to the manual, but it does not say anything about connecting via RS-485. Connection via RS-485 is described only in general terms. Link to the manual https://www.rayleigh.com/media/uploads/HXE110-user-manual-V1.1.pdf
I received this info:
For protocol DLMS(Mode E) the length of sub station No. is 1 byte, but for DLMS(Direct HDLC for RS 485) it is 4 bytes which is the last 2 bytes of the meter serial number in the nameplate add one.
This is updated to the manufacturer settings. Update new manufacturer settings and change "Address type" to Serial number. Then update the serial number and connect.
Official technical support "hexing" has not responded to my requests, two weeks have passed since the first request. Thank you for answering my questions!
They probably won't answer. I even wrote to African Tech Support. Thank you very much for your responsiveness! I will also try to buy an optical adapter, maybe I will be able to count with it. Do you have any recommendations for an optical adapter for this counter?
I forgot to mention that the documentation for the "HexView PC Software" utility states that there you must also enter the username "Hexing" and the default password "000000". Maybe this is the problem? This utility is not publicly available.
This username is for the application. Have you tried this password? Password might be for the meter.
It's quite common that the password is 6 or 8 digits long.
The meter is sending DlmsVersionTooLow error. It's interesting because the version number is 6 and it's proposed. I believe that the meter is returning an invalid error code and the reason is something else.
Can you connect if the authentication level is None?
Can you read the association view? Can you see the tree of COSEM objects on the left side?
If you do, you need to select an object that you want to read and then press the read button.
Because I don't know what is your version, try to do this.
1. Connect to the meter.¨
2. Select Refresh from the File menu. Is the object tree updated? Try to be fast. There are some older versions where the connection is closed almost right away if nothing is read from the meter. This will cause the meter doesn't reply.
So you can now connect to the meter and read the association view? That looks promising. Change authentication to High. You need the password for a High-level connection. You need to ask that from the meter vendor.
Hello.
Yes, now I can read the representations of the associations, thank you for that. When changing authentication to High-level, an error (DlmsVersionTooLow error) appears. Does this mean that the password is incorrect? The meter is new, so the default password is "000000", judging by the manual. But I already tried the default password and without the password tried the error remains the same.
I believe that this error code is wrong and the real reason is that password is something else.
I checked data from the hex string that you post earlier and the content is correct.
So I believe that password or client address is wrong. Check them from the manual.
Default Settings: Tried with default settings for Hexing Electrical Co. Ltd and various baud rates.
Model Specifics: Confirmed model HXE110 and lack of optical probe.
Settings Adjustments: Changed settings per recommendations, including baud rate (9600), data bits (8), parity (none), stop bits (one), flow control (none), and server address adjustments.
Hexing Manual: Reviewed manual but it lacked specific RS-485 connection details.
Manufacturer Settings: Updated settings to include the last two digits of the meter's serial number (19) and address type to "Serial number."
Outcome:
The meter constantly sends data, but connection fails.
Official technical support from Hexing was unresponsive.
User purchased an optical adapter but encountered a new error.
Provided hex trace for further analysis, and questioned about firmware updates.
Suggestions:
Retry with correct serial settings and server address.
Attempt connection with an optical probe.
Check for any possible firmware updates for the meter.
Thank you for the comments so far. I wanted to add my input.
I got the same results with a HXE310 over RS-485. With Authentication Low I managed to read the tree, but I needed to read the Energy index. With authentication High and trying various passwords (000000, 12345678) I get "Other reason" as connection error. This is when I select Address type: Default. When trying with Serial number the meter times out. I am looking for higher level password to see if I could read the indexes. I also tried the Python Client DLMS example. With Low authentication gives the same results. It looks like I need higher authentication to make it work.

I did as you wrote, but
I did as you wrote, but nothing came of it. The counter constantly, without a request, sends some data. Like these ones -

Official technical support
Official technical support "hexing" has not responded to my requests, two weeks have passed since the first request. Thank you for answering my questions!
Hi,
Hi,
I don't know what that data is. What baud rate you are using? It looks like your serial port settings are different than the meter.
I have to say that support of the meter manufacturers is usually poor, even you have bought a bigger amount of the meters.
BR,
Mikko
What is your meter serial
What are the last two digits of your meter serial number?

The last two digits are 19.
The last two digits are 19. baud rate - 9600, data bits - 8, parity none, stop bits - one. flow control - none.

Hi,
This username is for the application. Have you tried this password? Password might be for the meter.
It's quite common that the password is 6 or 8 digits long.

Hello dear Kurumi.
I bought an optical head. Now another error has appeared.
Hi,
Hi,
Can you add the hex trace here? I can check the bytes, but this seems like a meter issue. Do you know if there is a firmware update for the meter?

Hi,
Hi,
Because I don't know what is your version, try to do this.
1. Connect to the meter.¨
2. Select Refresh from the File menu. Is the object tree updated? Try to be fast. There are some older versions where the connection is closed almost right away if nothing is read from the meter. This will cause the meter doesn't reply.
BR,
Mikko
Sorry I didn't do that right
Sorry I didn't do that right away. Now I did it according to your instructions. The counter is connected but after the update there are no objects. Here's the result:

Hi,
Hi,
So you can now connect to the meter and read the association view? That looks promising. Change authentication to High. You need the password for a High-level connection. You need to ask that from the meter vendor.
BR,
Mikko
Hello.
Hi,
Hi,
I believe that this error code is wrong and the real reason is that password is something else.
I checked data from the hex string that you post earlier and the content is correct.
So I believe that password or client address is wrong. Check them from the manual.
BR,
Mikko
Steps Taken: Default…
Steps Taken:
Check for any possible firmware updates for the meter.
thanks and regards

Hi, Thank you for the…
Hi,
Thank you for the comments so far.
Thank you,
C
