General discussion

Hello,
I have a E450 and GXDLMXDirector v8.1.1904.0201. I'm interfacing with the meter using this little device right here : https://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-transfer-MBUS-module-slave-module-communic…
It plugs into the consumer interface at the bottom of the meter, not the optical one.

I create a new device and fill in the info : see image attached. I had unplugged the serial interface this is why it doesn't show, but I had it set to 2400bd, 8 data bits, no parity and one stop bit.

When I try ton connect I get an error shown in the following log file :

GXDLMSDirector 8.1.1904.0201
Log created 17:03:03
17:03:07 Initializing serial connection.
17:03:09 HDLC sending:/?!<CR><LF>
17:03:12 HDLC received: 42064414 171687 . 0 m~~ @ p S <LF>
System.Exception: Invalid responce.
à GXDLMSDirector.GXDLMSDevice.InitializeConnection()
à GXDLMSDirector.MainForm.Connect(Object sender, GXAsyncWork work, Object[] parameters)
17:08:50 Initializing serial connection.

Any ideas as to why this happens? When I used a serial sniffer, I figured those weird characters were simply some badly interpreted data. By the way you can see the serial numbers in that string.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

Hi,

GXDLMXDirector is using DLMS protocol. Your HW is M-BUS module slave. You can read your meter, but need to connect using optical head or RS-232 interface.

BR,

Mikko
