Hello. I'm trying to use the gurux GXDLMSDirector to test communication with an Actaris SL7000 but still without success. Is it possible to connect with the SL7000 using the gurux GXDLMSDirector? What are the device parameters needed to communicate with the SL7000, namely the client ID, Server ID, addressing type, authentication and default password? Does any one know what manufacturer parameters have to be selected for Actaris? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello JC_pt, and welcome to Gurux Web! We have received some questions via our contact form recently, concerning Actaris meters and GXDLMS/COSEMDirector working together, so it is good that You brought this discussion out to the Forum. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to establish support for Actaris devices in our application "officially" , as we do not have access to any Actaris device. We know that GXDLMS/COSEMDirector is used with SL7000, but the users have not reported any problems. We have also contacted Actaris manufacturer, about a month ago, but have not (at least not yet) received an answer to our inquiry of the parameter settings that Actaris meters need. Hopefully with this post, we reach a member that has the information needed, and is willing to share it with us, so we could build support for Actaris meters in our application, and thus help JC_pt, and others with the same problem. Thanks for the welcome and mostly for the incentive and motivation you gave on the sharing of this information from someone that might have managed to communicate with an Actaris SL7000. Unfortunately, if someone managed to do so, they still haven't seen this post :P I'm still fighting with this device to communicate with it but it's proving to be a really hard mission. If someone reads this and have succeeded in communicating with an Actaris SL7000 using this protocol, please share the information. I and certainly many other will be for ever grateful. If I manage to communicate with it, be sure I will share that information here. Thank you

We're happy to inform you all that we are now able to access an Actaris meter. Thank you, JC_pt, for arranging this!

The meter in question has been studied by our developers, and after trying to connect to it with no success, our developers have requested further technical specifications from the manufacturer, again. The situation appears to be that the meter uses another protocol primarily, and DLMS/COSEM as a second option.

As soon as the manufacturer responds to our request, the work with the Actaris meter continues.

Hi,

We have few customers at Spain who have same problem.
Thanks to Itron (current owner of Actaris), we have solved this problem.

If your device model is SL762, it do not support DLMS/COSEM.
It is Spanish version that is implemented with the protocol IEC870-5.

If you want to use DLMS/COSEM your model must be SL761.

Could anybody shed some light on this three layer DLMS protocol to communicate with an Actaris (SL7000, particularly SL761) electricity meter? DLMS/COSEM is totally different from IEC62056-21. it seems so complicated. Isn't there any easy way to work around the whole complexity and reduce this communication down to a small set of requests?

if all you need to read if the load profile, why should you go through such complex steps in a multi layer scheme.. there has to be an easier way, isn't it?

Hi,

Are you sure that your Actaris model is SL761? If you want to use DLMS/COSEM your model must be SL761. Specially if you are coming from Spain, you must check this out. If your version is SL762, it is implemented with the protocol IEC870-5.

We do not have any Actaris SL7000 EM in our office, so I can't verify this, but you can try to set Client ID to 0x16 and Server ID to 3. I will write blog in next week and tell where those values are coming from.

Hello,
There are two issues that i will appreciate if some one help me:
1- At fist when i a going to configure, and open new, device (name) is not available.
2- in case of SL 7000, i have not found map table (to read meter's registry). please aid me if you have such table.

Hello,

1. Are you creating new device or Manufacturer?

2. You do not need map table if you are using DLMS/COSEM connection. You only need made connection to the device and device will tell all the registers that it have.

I'm trying to communicate with an SL761 that have two ports 1 Rs232 (DLMS/COSEM) and 1 RS485 (DLMS/Cosem / IEC 62056-21). The fist (rs232) is actually used with a gsm modem with DLMS/Cosem protocol.
I aim to communicate in IEC 62056-21 by he second (rs485) port but the product dealer says to me that is necessary to configure that port with an Utility Software named ACE AIMS PRO that costs about 400 euros (default protocol is DLMS/Cosem). If i ever have success to communicate with DLMS Cosem with this device is possible, in theory, change communication settings with GXDLMSDirector (ie without purchasing that software)?
Be assured that i will communicate any progress in my tests.

Hello Raffaele,

We have waited for an answer from Itron withour results, but thanks to our members,
we have found the problem.

We have published a new version from GXDLMSDirector. There is a big change made, according to Actaris meter. We have fixed DLMS/COSEM protocol bug that exists in Actaris meter, to our products.

Actaris meter counts a wrong header checksum. :-(

Please, try the newest version, and let us know how it works.

yes im using the latest version and im using windows XP SP3 spanish language

Edit: finally i could run the DLMS Director, i just needed the VisualC++ component, now i could connect with the device but when i try to read it, it shows the following error : "Profile generic object '1.0.98.134.1.255' not found" i dont know what to do now :( can u tell me if im doing something wrong? this is my logfile

Hi,

After we reverge engineered you log file we do not found any Profile generic object with Logical Name '1.0.98.134.1.255'. Are you sure that this is the correct logical name? All Profile Generic objects are listed below.

You can try this: After you have extablished connection to the device
try to select Refresh from File menu.
It will read Association View and you can see all registers in the tree.

Hi,

Is this happening when you try to read objects (Refresh from File menu)?
We are using Eclipse and NetBeans. I belive that you are not receive this error
because I believe that this is UI problem.

Have you download source code of GXDLMSDirector from SourceForge.net and try with that?

hello mikko and again thanks for your help =), i tried to download the sourcecode from sourceforge but it says the proyect has no files :(,and yes its happening when i try to read either from the refresh on file menu or the read button, ill try to code on eclipse.

DLMS for Java is not a Open Source project. You can download the .jar from the Downloads page.

Can you download source codes of GXDLMSDirector from source forge.net and tell me in what line this error happened?

Hi,
I tried to compile C# example but there are some errors. It is using these libraries
using Gurux.Common;
using Gurux.Serial;
using Gurux.Net;
using Gurux.DLMS2;

But i don't have these libraries. I have already downloaded Gurux DLMS Directory and Gurux Device Editor. I got some DLL files from them but they don't have exactly these libraris instead they have these ones ...
using GuruxNet;
using GuruxSerial;
using GuruxCommon;
using GuruxTerminal;

So I changed the code a little bit to compile it for example i changed Gurux.Common to GuruxCommon
but still i don't have Gurux.DLMS2 and i don't have anything to replace it.

And during compilation I get these errors also

It does not find CGXCOSEMClass, ObjectType, DataType class types...
What should i have to do?
Please help

Hi,

At this moment you have add COM references. You should add .Net Refereces.
Go Add References and selec .Net references and select there Gurux.Common,
Gurux.Serial and others references that you are needed.

Hi,

Do not worry. You need serial cable that you connect between your PC and SL7000.
If your PC do not have serial port you need USB to serial port converter.

After that connect your PC to the meter. Download GXDLMSDirector and read your meter.

Hi,

It can read all logical devices. You should change Logical Device address to read other logical devices.
