Hi,

Hi,

Please, don't add error pictures. They don't give any extra info and pics are hard to read because of compression.

Are you using an optical probe or RS-232? Can you connect without authentication?

Mikko

I used both, one at a time

I used both, one at a time though. None connected. I tried without authentication first and with authentication both did not work.

Please I am using

Please I am using GXDLMSDirector version 8.2.2107.2101. I notice that there is no field for "start protocol" on both the Manufacturer's and Device Properties. Please see attached screenshot. Is there an explanation as to why that is missing?

Hi,

Hi,

If you are using the optical probe, you must select Interface HrlcWithModeE and if you are using serial port you must select HDLC.

Is the meter replying with the optical probe?

Mikko

Hi Samuel,

Hi Samuel,

The meter should reply. Check your cables and baud rate. The reason is one of them.

Mikko

It was really expected for

It was really expected for the meter to respond. The baud rate used is 9600. The optical cable used is factory installed. I will double check the usb -to- serial cable that is used and revert. Thanks

I just double-checked the usb

I just double-checked the usb-to-serial converter on another device and it worked well. Please, besides the cable, is the 9600 baud rate ok? Could there be something else?

Hi,

Hi,

Baud rate can be anything. It's possible to change it. I can't remember the default baud rate for Premier 300 just now. The default baud rate should be on the meter manual. If you are using RS-232, make sure that you have selected HDLC-interface.

Mikko

Yes, the default baud rate

Yes, the default baud rate from the meter is 9600. We used RS 232 first with HDLC-interface but no success. Any other possible cause please?

Hi,

Hi,

The reason is in serial port settings or then the wires. Check them both. Try to connect without authentication first.

You can also try to change the Max payload size in transmitting and receive from 128 to 512. You can change this in the Frame tab. The meter should reply without this change, but this is from the working configuration.

Mikko

Thanks for the response, the

Thanks for the response, the wires are ok since they tested fine on another device. I will adjust the serial settings as you suggested and revert with results. Thanks

Hi,

Hi,

I have to point out that meters are using different RJ-45 pinouts. Check that pinout is correct. This is a quite common issue.

Thanks for this vital point.

Thanks for this vital point. Please do you have any idea what the pin out is on Secure Premier 300?

Hi,

Hi,

You need to check that from the meter manual. I can't remember it right now.

BR,
Mikko
