Before the meter can be read it must describe the Gurux.DLMS.AMI. This is important because each DLMS meter is different and there are lots of different parameters. If one of the parameters is different than the meter expects meter returns an error or ignores the connection and you get the time-out error.
You can use default manufacturer settings or if the manufacturer settings are not available for your meter you can read the association view with GXDLMSDirector and import it as a device template.
Using the device template you will define meter settings and what you want to read from the meters. All DLMS meters are different and meter manufacturers are using different settings. If one of the settings is different than the meter expects, the meter returns an error or ignores the connection.
Each device template belongs to one or more device template groups. Only users who are part of the device template group can access the device template. This makes using the program safer.
After you have created the device template you can create the device meter and read meter data.
