Hi Guys,

Yet another question regarding SL7000 :).

Here is the set-up:

* Meter - Actaris SL761C071
* Meter Port - RS485 Full-Duplex, Marked as "Customer port" (1-st from left to right)
* USB-to-RS485 converter Half-Duplex (PC) - to connect Full-Duplex to Half-Duplex port TX+ -> RX+ (Meter) -> Data + (Converter) and TX- -> RX- (Meter) -> Data - (Converter)
* GXDLMSDirector 8.0.1711.0101
* Trying to read the meter I always get "Failed to receive reply from the device in given time"
* This is the communication that I am able to sniff over the port:

Any ideas what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You did not tell what baud rate you was using. Try to change baud rate to 4800.
Sent data is correct, you need to find correct baud rate and it will work.

Hello Mikko,

Thanks for the reply. All the tests were done using 9600 8N1 settings. However I did some tests with different baudrates (300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800 and 19200) and the result is still the same. Only difference is that when using 300 and 600bps the meter replied with 9 bytes like this:

06 bf 7c 6e 6f 36 d9 03 00

Any other thoughts? What about the reply from the meter - does it make any sense to you or it's some kind of garbage?

Thanks.

Best regards,
SGS

hi guys,

hi guys,

is it possible to connect PC with 2 wire RS485 (half-duplex) to actaris meter with 4 wire RS485 (full-duplex), if yes, is there any configuration to make in the meter.

Hi,

Hi,

Google RS-485 half-duplex to full-duplex wiring. I believe that the best way to go is if you buy a full-duplex adapter for the PC.

BR,
Mikko
