At some point in time I will probably look into using an EPS32 to fetch meter data from the IR port of my Kamstrup 382Lx7, which should support DLMS.
Until then (and there's a working client template for VSCode), I'd like to see if I get some information out of the meter using DLMSDirecttor - but I am not sure about the interfacing...
Right now I have an ESP32 trying to fetch data via the "Kamstrup" protocol using an IR eye built like the one on https://wiki.hal9k.dk/projects/kamstrup, but would this eye also work with DLMSDirector - if I add an USB->Serial adapter to it (e.g. an adapter using a CH340 chip) ? This way it would show up as a regular serial port..
In theory, it should work. In the experience that I have, a common problem is that there is not enough power for the LEDs if you use a USB to serial adapter and you might need an external power supply.
But, you will know for sure only if you test this and you will know is right away.
It always might be that there is enough power and it will work, but it depends on the USB converter.
