I am new to DLMS. I am trying to connect to a meter and read values such as power, voltage, etc.
here is my code snippet

GXDLMSObject obis=new GXDLMSObject();
obis.setLogicalName("0.0.96.11.0.255");
byte [][] result=client.read(obis, 2);

for(byte[] it :result)
{
System.out.println(GXCommon.bytesToHex(it));
}
and this is what I print out
7E A0 19 03 21 10 7F DA E6 E6 00 C0 01 C1 00 00 00 00 60 0B 00 FF 02 00 DC A1 7E
Question 1:
How do I decode this string and get values like 240V etc that are human-readable?
Question 2:
in client.read(obis, 2), the second integer argument is attributeOrdinal. what exactly is attributeOrdinal? I realized when I change the value, I get different output. How do I know what value to give as attributeOrdinal?

Hi Joel,

Hi Joel,

You should check the client example. It'll read all the objects from the meter.

Your print out is not the reply from the meter. It's a read request that you sent to the meter.

DLMS is a complicated protocol. I believe that if you download GXDLMSDirector and play with that you get an idea from attribute indexes.

BR,
Mikko
