Hello I'm trying to connect to a Calin CA168 meter. Since I don't have the optical cord with me, I am connecting to the Calin DCU via RS-485. I am unable to connect to them since Calin isn't on the list of manufacturers. I also tried Gurux as a manufacturer and same problem occurred.

This is the error code I keep getting: Failed to receive a reply from the device in a given time.

Hi,

Hi,

Select Gurux as the manufacturer and change Start protocol from "IEC" to DLMS.
Check baud rate usually that is causing the problem. It's depending on the meter type and manufacturer.
Default is 9600 8N1.

Yeah we have done that

Yeah we have done that already; we started with baud rate of 115200 since it's specified by the manufacturer. But we also tried with 9600. Same issue arises.

Hi,

Hi,

Do you have an external power supply in your RS-485 converter? Are you using USB to RS-232 converter first?

Hi Mikko,

Hi Mikko,
We were using RS-485 and had the meter hooked up directly to the 230V line. But we're no longer looking into this, so we won't need further assistance on debugging this.
I had another question. When I viewed the logs, it appears GXDirector sent 7E A0 07 03 21 93 0F 01 7E. I'm assuming this is in HDLC and I was wondering if there is a away for me to decode the SNRM request that's sent in HDLC.
