Hello,

I am a student in Computer Engineering and working in my Graduation project, I am trying to interface Arduino with Power meter to read the power data via RS485.

I have MAX485 Module to interface between Arduino and MT173.
I sent the command /?!CRLF from the Arduino to Power meter,

No response from the power meter,

I believe the RS485 need to be enabled first, but no clue

Anyone can help to configure MT173 RS485 communication?

Thanks

MG

MT173 Power meter RS485 enabling

Hi,

Do you have optical head so you can connect to the meter and check settings?

Thanks for fast response
No optical head, is there a way to check RS485 setting from the display and Data push-buttons?

MT173 Power meter RS485 enabling

Hi,

So you think that to enable RS485 I need to use Optical head to configure it? is there any software needed with the optical head?

thanks,

MT173 Power meter RS485 enabling

Hi,

Our IskraEmeco MT173 don't have RS485 (it's PLC version) so I can't verify this right now.
First make sure that your RS485 is connected correctly and there is enough power.

You can use GXDLMSDirector to read all the data from the meter and also set some of values.

MT173 Power meter RS485 enabling

Hi Mikko,

Are you sure that MT173 does not have RS485?, according to its data sheet it has RS485 communication.
MT173-D1A41R51-G22-M3K03Z.

the RS485 should be connected to port 27&29 at the energy meter.

Could please make sure about enabling RS485 at the meter since I am trying to send the commands from Arduino processor.

Thanks

MG

MT173 Power meter RS485 enabling

Hi,

There are several versions from MT173. Ours is no RS-485 interface.
Do you have another RS-485? Check your communication with our PC if you have. Then you can also try to read your meter with GXDLMSDirector.

BR,

Mikko
