(cables seem to work with other test software)

I will solder myself during the day one with FTDI chipset. Anyone can tell me the chipset inside the probe from working setup? That might help me...

Hi,

You are using IEC 62053-21 to read your Iskra meter. GXDLMSDirector is using DLMS. They are two different protocol.

Your settings seems to be ok. Just to make sure there is DLMS label on your meter?

Hi,

It seems that there are versions from ME382 that require that ServiceClass is set.
cl.ServiceClass = ServiceClass.Confirmed;

If service class is not set, meter returns nothing.

Meters what we are reading do not require that service class is set, but we was start to read new meters for our client and we found this.

so I had some spare time this weekend and decided to look again at these meters.

Because I had 2 identical MT382 meters I decided to offer one in the name of "science", desolderd modem, MCU, and some ramtron to see "whats inside", traced back some pins from the modem and found a way to sniff its traffic between modem <--> mcu result is here:

It seems I can get inside any meter I have, but not via the official way. Is there anyone here that can sell/rent/borrow , or willing to configure my meter with working parameters? (i only have old version of offical meterview wich not supports mt382)

Can also exchange for a firmware bin's wich I extracted from various meters the last months (have BIN's for ME382, MT171, MT162, MK7E E350)

Hi Raoul,

In your first post you said that you are using optical eye. In the video you are using terminal connection. Did you succeeded to make connection using optical eye?

We have few MT382. :-) but we can't give them away, because they are the property of the customer. :-(

What is meter's firmware?

I have an optical eye, but can only get errors like:

Hi,

We have made few changes. Most important is that serial port is not closed if moved to mode E. This seems to work better for some optical strobes. Start GXDLMSDirector and it updates new version after you restart it. Please, let me know if this solves your problem.

I installed the new version, log is down this post.

If I add a new connection, using "serial iskra initial settings" it should be client adress 64, physical server 11 , once I save the new connection setting the settings in the "device tree" main window are : phycical 17 client 100 , would it matter?

Hi Raoul,

I think that problem is optical strobe, not the meter.
Changing baud rate and Parity will make the issue. What optical strobe you are using (Manufacturer and model)?

Hi,

I'm just reading Iskra ME371-1010 with Kamstrup Infrared Optical Reading Head.
This is USB head.

And now I have to ask are you using direct USB connection or do you have
USB to serial port converter and then you have RS-232 optical eye?

Direct usb not possible, it would always need some converter chip inside, anyway I have both, usb and RS232 eye for direct connection to a real comport SUBd9

I checked the kamstrup driver package, it seems it has CP21xx converterchip inside. I have eyes with this chip

Could you check your PID/VID from your kamstrup USB cable? Start --> configuration --> system --> hardware devices ---> comport ---> properties , according to the driver package it should be USB\VID_17A8&PID_0005 or/ USB\VID_17A8&PID_0001

this is log using CP21xx converter chip with Kamstrup driver package, it seems to give some more now as with the standaard CP21xx drivers

Yes, there is a chip inside. Reason why I was asking this is that when we added support for Android and tested serial port with different USB converters and there are some Chinese dongles that do not work wery well if you change baud rate.

Vendor and product IDs are ; 17A8 and 1.

Hi,

We have tested your USB optical probe. Windows 10 can identify it, but it's shown as USB to UART Bridge Controller. Is there driver what we need to install to show this as serial port?

Hi,

We can now see your optical probe as Kamstrup USB Controller but communication fails.
We try to read with Kamstrup meter where DLMS is starting protocol. Serial port settings are: 8N1.

I'll get camera with me tomorrow so I can check is probe sending anything.

Hi,

We have tested with optical probe you send using Kamstrup and Iskra meters. There is something wrong in optical probe. When we try to make connection using this probe, we can't make connection with any probe after that. It seems that it does something for the meter's communication.

Can you read your meter with this probe what you sent?

I think it has something to do with DTr/RTS settings.

Hi,

You must change Authentication to Low.
With Authentication None you can only read the meter.

ME381 newly boxed standaard pw 00000000? (ascii)

it seems I cannot connect with password.

(when I press "connect" without pw set, "comformance" changes to Action, SelectiveAccess, Set, Get, MultipleReferences, BlockTransferWithAction, BlockTransferWithSetOrWrite, BlockTransferWithGetOrRead

When I set pw, it will not even connect "comformance" - this would be typical when pw wrong?

any hints welcome.

ME382 default password is "12345678" as ASCII.

Ok ME382 connects (IEC, cl 10 , pys 11 log 1, pw12345678)
No errors on loading.

Is it possible to change for example clock? its seems not editable , or edit autoconnect setup ?

Hi,

Connect using Low authentication and then refresh meter. You can now change those settings.

I'm trying to connect to ME382 via SIM Card with this configuration and I'm always getting this error
