Before the meter can be read it must be described for the Gurux.DLMS.AMI. This is important because each DLMS meter is different and there are lots of different parameters. If one of the parameters is different than the meter expects meter returns an error or ignores the connection and you get the time-out error.
For this reason, the default manufacturer settings are available in the configurations (/config/Manufacturer). You can select a manufacturer or meter that you want to read and when you save the changes Gurux.DLMS.AMI will ask do you want to install support for the model or version. After you have installed support for the manufacturer you can create a meter and set the correct communication parameters to establish the connection for the meter.
Note!
The number of objects might depend on the authentication level. For this reason, there might be multiple authentication levels available. You can install them all, or only what you need.
Different communication channels (e.g. Serial port, optical port, TCP/IP, etc.) might use different settings. For that reason, there might be multiple settings where only the Interface type is different.
