General discussion

Hi peoples in forum,
I'm confused about server ID and authentication.
I'm clear about server ID length identification from gurux article. my doubt is, is it any standard is there like if Authentication is none then the server ID should be in this many bytes?
My understanding is, from mechanism name only we can identify the Authentication level. Kindly revert me about the reason behind the byte size of the server ID.

Thanks & Regards,
Sha M.

Hi,

Hi,

Client address depends from Authentication level, not server address. Server address is used to identify the meter. It can be one byte or it can be several bytes. If meter serial number is used as server address size is 4 bytes.

Hi,

Hi,

In HDLC it's 1 byte. In WRAPPER it's 2 bytes.

Hi mikko,

Hi mikko,
Thanks for the reply
So lowest authentication the client address will be 0x10 right?
Then what about the low and high level?

Hi,

Hi,

It depends on the manufacturer. Some sub-standards like India defines used values.
