I want to connect multiple meters to the dlms-master and want to read their data on one serial port. For that I am using RS-485 as it is designed to communicate between multiple devices connected to a single data line.In dlms-master application which is in c language I am creating a thread for each meter connection and after opening the serial port I am sharing its file descriptor to all the meter connections (setting the comPort variable of a connection structure).
So is it a correct approach for reading the data of multiple meters on one serial port?.

Best Regards,

Faizy.

Hi,

Hi,

With some meters, you need to use the meter serial number as the serial address. For some meters, there is one master meter and you need to add other meters to the master meter SAP table. You need to ask the meter manufacturer how they have implemented this.
